Meet the Robinsons is filled with extraordinarily inappropriate and insensitive messages about adoption that will be disturbing to many children. The basic story is about an adorable baby whose birthmother leaves him on the doorstep of an orphanage. Portrayed as loving, sweet, extremely smart and overly appealing, he spends the next 12 years of his life wanting a family and being turned down by one family after another - in all, 114 couples refuse to adopt him. One disturbing scene shows a prospective dad losing interest in adopting the child because the youngster is more interested in science than sports. When he accidentally splatters them with food from his science project, both prospective parents walk out in a huff , leaving one very sad and disappointed little boy. Since no one else wants him, the child invents a time machine that will take him back in time to find his birth mother. The 'bad guy' in his time travel journey turns out to be his best childhood buddy who was once his orphanage roommate. Now an emotional wreck resulting from being left behind when the orphanage was closed and shut down, the once-cute orphan is now mean and devious. The story continues with numerous monsters attacking the child as he continues to search for his birth mother.

I saw an advance screening of "Meet the Robinsons" today with the family and we all enjoyed thoroughly. After getting a little fed up with recent films CGI animal (with the possible exception of Flushed Away), this was a refreshing change. An intriguing story revolves around Lewis orphan who, as a 12-year-old is an up-and-coming inventor, and dreams of building a time machine to find out who was their mother. He meets a mysterious boy Wilbur Robinson, who tries to save him from the equally mysterious man with the Bowler Hat. We then pointed out in a time travel story that, despite having the largest number of paradoxes as Back to the future, ends with some interesting plot twists. We saw the film in 3D - and although there were some "especially for 3D visual effects, such as the power of flight - the 3D is not exaggerated and not at the expense of history.

I went to the theater this afternoon to catch an R-rated movie and goofed with the times. The only film available in my time frame is allowed Meet the Robinsons. Reluctantly, I bought a ticket and was pleasantly rewarded with an experience of movie that reminded me a lot of my childhood. When we got to go to the movies in the 50's and 60's, there were trailers, followed by the news, and then a cartoon before the main attraction. The absence of three D began with the R-rated version does not trailers, followed by a cartoon of Mickey Mouse (loved it!) And then the main feature. It's very entertaining to sit and relax and not worry about the good die, the amount of the slaughter that was portrayed, or that there would be a positive message at the end. As an adult, there are references enough to keep me entertained and the sounds of children in the theater were obviously enjoying this movie. I recommend it to everyone, but the film-crankiest assistants, and personally I loved the quote from Uncle Walt at the end of the film. When I was growing up, our entire family of Walt Disney seen every Sunday and in particular take into account when it changed to Walt Disney's wonderful world of color. Walt Disney was a man ahead of his time and I really miss her adventurous spirit and curiosity. Introduced and ended each episode and I really enjoyed seeing you every week. I wish that Walt Disney's wonderful world of color was still on each week and that new episodes that are still possible.
