| This was not a film, was a party in Hollywood. The script had all the marks of a last minute scraped together by a high school student theater. The casting, as many others have pointed out, was a big disappointment. Surely many of these actors are well known, but that does not mean they were right for the role (or that everything is okay to start). Most of these players become terrible performances, the worst of which is Joshua Jackson. The sequence seems to indicate that he was playing a bartender in Laramie, but the character that came to play was a rich Hollywood liberal. It seemed that the movie: Laramie Project, The was trying to fit the actor with the role, instead of finding the best actor to perform the function. The script is poorly written and never seemed to go nowhere. The scene where the doctor to break the news conference was overwritten. The worst scenario is when the Arab or Indian student (sorry, I only saw him once, I can not remember all the details) disagreed with the assertion that many other people who were doing brutal murder is not what the people of Laramie is about, which means that most of them were murderers or condoned murder. I read the news daily and can not remember reading many murders in Laramie. Representing the people of Laramie thereby insult to its people. At the end of the film, which could not have come too soon, the only point that the Laramie Project, The Drama film has done is point out that murder is a bad thing. Sell a little hard. |
| actually. Many respondents have outlined above the basic theme, as well as the excellent cast. Having seen several times, however, I sincerely hope my review also read as Moises Kaufman desire credit on his work in translation and good movies. The division does not dominate the true story, a feat difficult to achieve. When you see the car scene where Matthew Sheppard is taking the scene of his murder, is quite staggering. The contrast of the inhumanity of man against man to the beauty of the Laramie, Wisconsin, the landscape is raw and true. There is no melodrama here, the reality and the sad story that needed telling. The class divide between students and "Townies" is shown in a realistic way. The sad reality is that there is in most of the campus, to a lesser extent, of course. The group mentality and the proliferation of hatred and violence that prevented this murder are discussed, as well as residents of the reactions to it. We see Sam Waterston and Stockard Channing as the bereaved parents, Peter Fonda as the doctor tired, Janeane Garofalo as a lesbian, a feeling of fear for his life. Christina Ricci and Clea DuVall also do very well as a younger generation disrupted by violence. Also see Laura Linney, always reliable, as a resident of Laramie angry that the killing received much attention from the media. In general, this is a tragic and complex issue that deserves much more attention. Highly recommended. |
